Triathlon age groups for 2017 will be used for the 2016/2017 duathlon series (that is age as at 31/12/2017). Age groups will be as follows:
Tristars Start competitors may not use a road bike (racer) for the Aztec Series events. Mountain bikes or other non-geared bikes are permitted. This rule has been brought in to ensure that
the Tristars Start category is used as a feeder for the club events and to reduce the potential cost to parents. For the same reason mountain bikes should have standard tyres and should not be fitted
with slick racing tyres.
For all other age groups we will be applying gearing restrictions in line with the British Triathlon Federation elite guidelines and these will be applied to junior events for all road bikes. The
restrictions are in line with British Cycling guidelines and should therefore all ready be in place for all cyclists racing with the JCAYA. Restrictions will be applied/checked at the first race in
the series and thereafter as required. For more details please see the attached document.
Other events
These events are not technically part of the club's calendar, but If you travel to the UK or France for any triathlon event please let us know about it so that we can tell others. Also, at the end of
the year we will collect receipts for travel expenses relating to all triathlon trips and depending on budget we may be able to make a grant towards travel costs. We will also base next year's budget
on what people do this year so the more we know about the better!
